Strategic Intent

Complexity positions strategy design as synthesis - an articulation of hypotheses about how to influence the direction of change, instead of a plan for success.

Given this, we need to “review progress more often, regard failure as part of learning, act more quickly to seize opportunities, and be more prepared to adapt and learn. We are more accepting that we have to ‘learn by doing’ and that we cannot always know what will be successful.” (Boulton, Allen & Bowman, 2016).
