# Complexity

My understanding of complexity is shaped by the advancing field of complexity science, especially the work of Boulton, Allen & Bowman in their 2015 book ‘*Embracing Complexity*’ [\[74\]](https://kanopi.gitbook.io/mdes-exegesis/references). I build on this with my personal experiences and observations of natural living systems - such as rainforests, deserts and coral reefs.
